What is a .404 page?

seen: 2731 | Date added: 04.09.2010 | rating:

If a visitor of your website requests a page which does not exist in your home directory, he/she will be automatically redirected to the .404 page. For example, if someone would like to visit and mistakenly enters kontaktz.html, the visitor will be redirected to the 404.php page in your home directory. This page can be easily modified by editing the 404.php file in public_html subdirectory. You can also create a .404 page for subdomains, you only have to create 404.php in the subdomain directory.
