What is the difference between POP3(s) and IMAP(s) protocols?

seen: 2717 | Date added: 04.10.2010 | rating:

These are two different protocols (ways of receiving your email messages). Simply put POP3 „downloads the messages to your computer so that they will no longer be present on the server“, while IMAP/s-messages „will be both on your computer and on the server“, so it is available for services such as webmail (accessible from all over the world).

The „s“ at the end of the protocol signifies that the connection between your computer and the server is encrypted  and it cannot be infiltrated.
